Wilson-Family
As fall temperatures breeze through our community, Prescott Area Habitat for Humanity is celebrating the completion and dedication of its 2009 Thrivent Builds house.  On September 12 at 2:00 p.m., volunteers, Prescott Area Habitat for Humanity representatives, Thrivent Financial representatives and members, Habitat home applicants, Lutheran pastors, and the excited partner family gathered at Trinity Lutheran Church in Prescott Valley to honor the hard work, the generous financial backing, and the community support that made this home possible.

A meaningful dedication ceremony that included a Consecration of the house, a Litany of Thanksgiving, presentation of the keys and a Bible to the new homeowners, and a Benediction brought the many home-building participants together.

Dedication-044

An open house followed the dedication ceremony. The homebuyers - the Mathew Wilson family—are eager to move into their new home.  They have completed more than 500 hours of “sweat equity” helping to build their home, a basic tenet of Habitat for Humanity.  Over 3,000 volunteer hours went into the construction of the Wilson’s home in Diamond Valley, including 162 hours that were contributed by the National Bike and Build bicyclists who worked on the house July 10 & 11..

“This dedication opens a new door – in more ways than one – for the Wilson family,” said Miriam Haubrich, Prescott Area Habitat for Humanity Executive Director.  “The volunteers, donors, and other supporters who were with us for the house dedication recognize and celebrate the positive change this home will bring to the Wilson’s and to our community."
